School Feeding Programs

Children living in extreme poverty suffer daily from malnutrition and starvation. If they are able to attend school they are likely there on an empty stomach, unable to focus due to the pains of hunger.

795 million

people in the world do not have enough food to lead a healthy active life. That's about one in nine people on earth.

deaths in children under 5 are caused by poor nutrition – that’s 3.1 million children each year.

66 million

primary school-age children attend classes hungry.

“Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.”

- Isaiah 58:10

Bright Hope believes in partnering with the local, in-country church to care for the basic needs of children. Through school feeding programs one meal is offered to every child that attends school, helping them to focus more on their education and giving them Hope for the future. Since many families in extreme poverty cannot afford to feed their children, these school feeding programs are able to fulfill that need while helping children stay in school, breaking the cycle of poverty.

Your generous gift of any amount will help bring Hope for Today through our local church partners around the world.

Nairobi, Kenya – Joy Primary School in Mathare Valley looks a lot like any school around the world at lunchtime. At exactly a quarter to one everyday, students line up tightly clutching their plates and spoons, eagerness clearly displayed across their faces. Class by class they are served and carefully make their way to join their friends to eat their hot nutritious meals as they chat away before the bell rings to get them back to class.
