Haut Savanette, Haiti — This past year marked some great new achievements and positively affected hundreds in the surrounding community of Haut Savanette. Much of this is attributed to Pastor Jacques Francois, who took over the pastoral role at the church and the leadership duties for the school two years ago.

Monarque, Haiti — Haiti officially announced the beginning of hurricane season on Saturday, June 1. Days later on Wednesday, June 7, a strong wind storm tore through the rural village of Monarque, Haiti. 

Microloan Recipients Work Together at Eco-Friendly Workshop

Pignon, Haiti — Microloan recipients involved in our program worked together this week at a community-based workshop to learn innovative, eco-friendly practices and energy-efficient technologies to increase their incomes. Workshops included biochar, permaculture, briquette-making, swaling, water irrigation, and toilet composting.

Microloan Recipients Seeing Business Grow

Pignon, Haiti — Many of the recipients on the microloan program have received and successfully paid back six loans and have recently received a seventh. The impact to these individuals and their community is notable. Two families on the program have seen growth in their lives. 

Haut Savanette School Updated

Pignon, Haiti — The school at Haut Savanette badly needed improvements. Students were virtually sitting on top of each other due to lack of space and seating. One class was seated directly next to another, making it difficult for the listening students to hear their own teacher and concentrate on their work. Another problem Haut Savanette faced was having no toilets near the property. While the students wanted to be at school, these challenges made learning difficult.
