Northern India — Amira's mother cried out to God for help eight years ago. Living in one of the worst areas for human trafficking and in a culture where women stay in the home, she couldn't work. She was raising six children alone and knew her girls would fall last in line for education. With her youngest daughter just one-year-old and her eldest daughter nearing marrying age, she knew a significant amount of income was necessary to give to the groom's family. Left by her husband with debt collectors at the door looking for money from his bankrupt business, the thought of education for her girls was unfathomable. 


First Safe House Resident Nears Education Completion

Northern India — Jyoti, Bright Hope's first safe house resident, is nearing the completion of her courses to become a beautician and manicurist. She will complete the course within two months. Following this course, she will intern for an additional six months to practice what she has learned. When Jyoti is fully trained, she will receive assistance to open her own beauty salon, allowing her to earn a sustainable livelihood. 


Second Safe House in India Secured

Northern India — After a long and tiring search for a second safe house to rescue and rehabilitate trafficked victims, Bright Hope has secured an ideal house in the northern region of India. The house consists of four bedrooms, two drawing rooms, a dining area, and four bathrooms.

Beracah, Zambia — Gwen Mesa is widowed and looks after three of her own children and four orphans. Several years ago, Gwen was trained by another organization in vegetable production. Last year, her church enrolled her into Beracah’s livelihoods program.  


Two Minors Rescued in Public Market

Northern India — After almost being beaten to death by five boys in a public market, Nora (14) and Farah (16) were rescued at the very last second. Leaders of our Anti-Human Trafficking Program in India were just around the corner that day as they heard screaming from the young girls. The leaders were able to enter in and rescue the girls, just as the boys were about to beat the girls with bricks.

Samfya, Zambia — Doreen adopted her niece, Mercy, after Doreen's sister died giving birth. Doreen brought Mercy to the nursing room at Samfya Community of Care Providers (SCCP), where she was treated for an eye infection. Besides taking in her sister's child, Doreen also has an infant of her own.

Northern India — Praise God! Three girls were rescued and one brothel madam was arrested in the raid we conducted last evening. Thank you to those who prayed for our raid to rescue trafficked minors in Northern India. These young girls will find renewed Hope, restoration, and strength through their freedom.
